Looking to tie an event into your vacation or weekend getaway? The Canadian Rockies are full of fun and festivities for the whole family. Below is a list of the some of the great events being staged in the Canadian Rockies during 2004 (be sure to ask us about including an event in your package):

Celebrity Sports Invitational
Banff / Sunshine Village, AB
Join hosts Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta Jones, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Mary Richardson Kennedy at the three-day Fairmont Banff Springs Sports Invitational, which is expected to attract more than 50 sport, film and television stars, who will compete in a variety of events, including snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and alpine downhill racing at Sunshine Village.
20th Annual Media Mingle

The Scots Fernie Int. Interschools Cup

This inaugural ski/snowboard event is being staged at Fernie Alpine Resort by The Scots College, Sydney, Australia and is open to all children aged 5 through 18 from any country. The Australians may have up to 60 competitors at Fernie for the 2004 event.
Ice Magic International

Rocky Mountain Ski Marathon

Canmore Winter Festival

Alberta International Sled Dog Competition
Canmore, AB
Mush! This event marks one of the most exciting winter weekends in Canmore. The use of sled dogs in snowy climes is an ancient tradition, and this annual race pays homage to the canine athletes of the past and present. Each January, teams from around the world gather to compete in sprint races in the glorious mountain setting of the Canmore Nordic Centre. Spectators are welcome to cheer on their favourite teams. This is an excellent event for families, and admission is free.
Banff - Lake Louise Winter Festival

Canmore Ice Climbing Festival
Canmore, AB
Feeling daring? This festival features activities for expert and novice ice climbers alike. Try your hand, and your nerves, on the 60-foot artificial ice wall, or watch the pros race up at top speed for prizes and bragging rights. The event also includes climbing clinics, slide shows and lectures, demonstrations, a banquet, and an equipment expo. After working up a thirst climbing, or just watching climbing, relax in the ever-popular beer gardens. Event prices range from free to CAD35. Clinics are CAD75.

Sunshine and Norquay will host the best 13- and 14-year-old racers in the country this March when the 2004 Canadian Juvenile Championships are held in the Banff region.

Easter Sunday

The Easter Bunny will once again be visiting Sunshine! There will also be a non-denominational Church Service at the top of Strawberry at 11 am. Easter Egg Hunts for ages 6 & under will take place outside the daycare and top of Strawberry for 7 -12 year olds. The Country 105 Powder Posse will be around doin’ their Snowsnake Hunt too! Rubber Snakes will be scattered around the green and blue runs and if you find one you can redeem it later in the day for prizes!
Toshiba Celebrity Ski Invitational
Lake Louise, AB
Hosted by Ken Read, he brings together many of friends whom are National Team members from the past. These legends team up with corporate teams and challenge each other in a fun dual slalom race. The Sunday on the weekend, brings the Crazy Canucks together to race in a hotley contested Pro Race Dual format. This events helps to raise awareness and raise funds for those suffering from Cystic Fibrosis.

The Felix Belczyk Kinder Cup will feature some of Canada’s best K1, K2 and Jr. Alpine Racers in a head to head dual slalom drag race. It is short and sweet and the double round knock-out format provides non-stop entertainment at Sunshine Village on Sunday April 27, 2003.

Jasper Children's Festival

The Jasper Children's Festival is an annual event open to all. The day of fun & games takes place outside at the Jasper Activity Centre from 11:00 am to 4:00 p.m. Admission is $5.00 per person or $20 per family, children 2 and under are free. Popular Children's entertainers, crafts and games are featured.
Sunshine Beach Party

Get your beach gear and head to the slopes. A DJ will play beach music all day long and you can play or watch volleyball! Sunshine will have contests and a party with more details to come.
21st Annual Golden Triangle
Golden, BC
The Golden Triangle is a three day bicycle tour in mountainous terrain, which follows a triangular route involving Castle Mountain Junction, the Town of Golden and the Town of Radium. The Golden Triangle is not an endurance contest nor a race. It is purely a recreational and social event.
Canmore Children's Festival
Canmore, AB
The Canmore Children's Festival offers a chance to unleash your inner child. This celebration, held during the Canadian long weekend near the end of May, offers kids the chance to experience theatre, storytelling, magic, musical performances, and puppet shows, and to participate in fun games and crafts.
Canadian Food and Wine Festival
Lake Louise, AB
Each May the luxurious Chateau Lake Louise hosts this celebration of Canadian wine and cuisine. This is a very special weekend for foodies and oenophiles alike. Events include tastings of over 40 Canadian wines, cooking classes and demonstrations by some of Canada's finest hotel chefs, and, the showcase of the event, a gala five-course dinner with an ice wine reception. Guided interpretive hikes in the mountains are offered to help diners and sippers work off all those extra calories. Prices for individual events vary, but packages including all events and two nights accommodation start at around CAD400 per person.
Slush Cup

The ski season officially comes to an end at Sunshine Village with the annual "Sunshine Slush Cup" event. The Slush Cup features foolishly brave men and women who ski & board their way down Pandemonium run wearing creative costumes and carrying attitude. There is a jump just before a pond of icy cold water and the goal is to try and make it across the water to the other side. Very few people actually make it across but everyone definitely has fun trying. It's a highly entertaining spectacle to watch and an invigorating event to participate in!

Banff Television Festival

Hundreds of television professionals from around the world will gather at the Fairmont Banff Springs in the Canadian Rockies June 13 - 17 to take part in this annual event, which celebrates excellence in international television programming and explores the issues, challenges, creative and business opportunities in the industry.
Rockies 18-Hour Challenge
Canmore, AB Looking for a perfect springboard into longer multi-day races or just 18 hours of adrenalin? Teams of 3 (mixed gender) and SOLO categories will paddle, trek, orienteer, and mountain bike a spectacular 100 km course through the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Race the Rockies 18 Hour Challenge is one of the few adventure races in the world that allows solo athletes to race throughout the night.

Canada Day Parade and Celebration
Canmore, AB
Celebrate Canada Day with your Community on July 1st. The day kicks off in traditional fashion with the annual Pancake Breakfast from 7:30 am to 10 am. Then it’s off to the Nordic Centre for the Canada Day Family Fun Run and Walk at 9 am. And of course at high noon the parade marches down Main Street finishing at Centennial Park where entertainment, children’s activities and much more await you.

Beginning at 5 pm the celebrations move trackside (behind the provincial building) where the CPR Empress, a restored 1930 steam locomotive becomes the staging area for the rest of the day’s events.

The Celtic spirit prevails in Canmore on the Labour Day weekend when hundreds of participants of Highland Dance, Piping, Drumming, Running and Heavy Sports give their best performances in their quest for excellence. Celtic merchants from across Canada offer their wares and clan tents provide family history and geneology information. Highland cattle and sheep dog demonstrations can be seen and the Massed Bands will stir the soul. The Beer Garden features non-stop entertainment such as Scottish Country Dancing and Irish Stepping. Vic Lewis Band Festival

Come alive with the sound of music every November when the Vic Lewis International Band Festival strikes up the bands! The three Bow Valley school bands (Lawrence Grassi, Canmore Collegiate and Banff Community High School), along with seven to eight hundred young band musicians from across Alberta play for some of the finest band directors in North America.
