In contrast to its neighbours like Banff, Jasper, and Lake Louise a short drive to the east, Panorama Mountain Village is outside of the National Parks and has been designed from the outset as an architecturally controlled resort development. A smaller version of Whistler in terms of overall size, amenities, ambience and cost, Panorama offers some of the best skiing and accommodations on the western slopes of the Canadian Rockies.

In recent years, the resort has undergone a number of significant improvements and new developments in the village and on the mountain. With the addition of varied ski terrain, slopeside hotpools, accommodations, and a village gondola, Panorama Mountain Village is has become one of the Canadian Rockies' premier winter vacation destinations. The biggest addition to the slopes in recent years is "Outback" in Taynton Bowl. Formerly heli-skiing terrain, Taynton Bowl offers skiers and snowboarders over 700 acres of wide open and naturally gladed backcountry-style terrain. Other runs and ski zones added in recent years include the Millennium run, the Extreme Zone and the Sun Bowl. Taynton Bowl, combined with these other terrain expansions, adds to the excellent selection of beginner, intermediate and advanced runs on the mountain, totaling close to 3000 patrolled acres.

While winter is the busiest time of year, Panorama is also an exceptional summer escape for hiking, golfing and mountain biking enthusiasts. Grey Wolf Golf Course at the base of the mountain is one of North America’s premier alpine golf experiences and is complemented by numerous excellent layouts within the Columbia Valley that are relatively affordable. Outdoor tennis courts and offroad vehicle tours can make for an action packed vacation when not exploring the trails or the fairways. A winding thirty-minute drive to Lake Windermere and the Columbia River, Panorama is also a suitable base for mixing in some boating, fishing or windsurfing into your vacation.

With various accommodation options available, Panorama Mountain Village is affordable for any sized pocket book and can scale to meet the demanding needs of the most discerning travelers. Most suites in Panorama include a full kitchen and ski-in/ski-out accommodations. Vacation homes up to 6 bedrooms can also be rented and are ideal for large families or groups looking for the comforts of home and additional affordability.

Recent lodging developments have further enhanced the accommodation choices at Panorama Mountain Village, increasing options for guests and buyers. Newly developed premium properties like Panorama Springs offer professionally designed studio, one- and two-bedroom suites located in the upper village, adjacent to the mountain. The lodge also houses the relaxing slope-side hotpools, available for use by guests staying at any village property - a perfect way to end a day on the slopes. Beautifully constructed in a traditional Canadian park lodge motif with stone, log and heavy timber, the new Taynton Lodge units are very popular with guests and are a great addition to the Ski Tip, Tamarack and 1000 Peaks lodges. Lodging in the Riverbend, Aurora, Wolf Lake and Hearthstone Townhomes with fully equipped accommodations overlooking are very popular with families. Exquisite single-family home sites in the Forest Ridge Estates neighbourhood provide opportunities to build and rent new mountain homes along the fairways of Greywolf Golf Course. While much of the new development in Panorama Mountain Village is upscale and remarkable in certain cases, the Pine Inn, Toby Creek Lodge and Horsethief Townhomes continue to cater to the budget minded and provide for a very affordable ski vacation.

The Village Gondola is another recent addition facilitating the movement of guests between Panorama's upper and lower villages. This 8-passenger, high-speed, open-air gondola features six cabins with a carrying capacity of 585 passengers per hour, and is completely free of charge.

In addition to skiing and snowboarding, outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy sleigh rides, Nordic skiing, snowmobile excursions and even heli-skiing. Food and beverage amenities at Panorama Mountain Village include après ski, family dining, and fine dining.
