Fernie Snowcat Day Skiing
|
Spend a powder-packed day (or more) skiing the backcountry of Fernie, Canada's leader in natural powder. This adventure offers you thousands of acres of private land as your ultimate playground. Our terrain is considered advanced intermediate to advanced. It is a lot of gladed tree skiing, some open, some tight chutes. NOT EXTREME, JUST EXTREMELY GOOD. This makes it ideal for those first time cat skier/boarders. But don't worry, we have expert skiers return year after year for that fantastic EGO skiing they love!
The daily rates include guided skiing, tax, lunch and use of our avalanche transceivers. It does not include transportation to and from the lodge, fat ski rentals or gratuity’s. You can expect to ski eight or nine runs (depending on the conditions) which is approximately 11 to 13,000 vertical for the day. We meet in Fernie in the morning and guests follow us to our lodge 15 minutes away. At the lodge we will complete the required paperwork, get set up on Fat skis if you need them, and ride the cat to the ski area (approx. 45 minutes). We will return to the lodge between 4:00 - 4:30pm in time to enjoy your evening plans with us or back in town! |

It is our pleasure to welcome you to Mike Wiegele Helicopter Skiing Resort. Surrounded by the Cariboo and Monashee Mountains, in the center of the world's best skiing, Blue River is far removed from the grind of ordinary life, indeed. The Resort lies in one of the world's most productive snow belts for consistent, high quality powder snow. As a result, from November till May the powder is unmatched anywhere.
Each day the goal is to give you the best possible skiing experience to meet and surpass your expectations. The guides are carefully chosen for their ability to provide you with an exciting and memorable ski vacation, while caring for your safety and comfort at all times.
The resort is located on the edge of the town of Blue River, nestled between the world famous Cariboo and Monashee mountains. Halfway between Vancouver and Edmonton, Blue River is a comfortable 2.5 hr drive north of Kamloops on the all-weather Highway #5, we are readily accessible by car or bus. Local grocery stores, service stations, post office, elementary school, motels, and nursing station provide basic amenities in a rustic village setting.
The skiing area encompasses over 1,000 runs and peaks. When you ski with us you have access to the largest variety of slopes and mountains of any single helicopter operator in the world.
Built in 1987, the 25,000 square foot luxurious lodge is built for your comfort. It houses the Sitting Room, Powder Max Dining Room, Kitchen, Silver Buckle Lounge, Bonnie's Boutique, Games Room, Fitness Centre, Stretching Studio, newly expanded Health Spa and eight Massage Rooms.
The lodge is the height of rustic elegance. Under one roof you will find the essentials necessary to unwind, relax and inspire you.
