Ski Resort Overview
Panorama is an intimate mountain resort which offers a village atmosphere with an awesome variety of double black diamond glade skiing to uncrowded wide open groomed trails. The ski area is located 2 hours south west of Banff and just a little over 3 hours from Calgary.
Panorama features over 4,000 vertical feet and 2,847 patrolled acres of beginner, intermediate and expert terrain accessed via 9 lifts. Skiers and boarders won’t want to miss Panorama’s newest and largest terrain expansion ever - Taynton Bowl. Formerly exclusive heli-skiing terrain, Taynton Bowl is now lift-accessed backcountry style skiing incorporated into Panorama’s official boundary. Panorama offers over 100 trails in addition to bowls, the Extreme Dream Zone, ShowZone Terrain Park including a FIS regulation half pipe, and a mini jib park. The ski season runs early December through late April and averages 447 cm (187 inches) of natural snow, with snowmaking capabilities.
With the largest terrain expansions in years with the new Taynton Bowl, Panorama now features almost 1000 acres of back country style naturally gladed skiing. Along with the Taynton Bowl expansion, there is the new trail "Millenium" (over 2kms) and "Stumbock's" to offer more variety to you day... The East-facing bowl captures exceptional snowfall throughout the season. Recently acquired from the local Heli-Ski company based at Panorama, the area was brought into the recreational boundary with access off the Summit lift with skiing out over 5km to the village. The main chutes are over 1,700 of vertical descent complimenting the total to over 4,000 vertical at Panorama, the second highest in the Canadian Rockies Region and one of the largest in North America.
Under Intrawest's direction (the same driving force behind Whistler and Mount Tremblant), Panorama has become one of the Canadian Rockies' premier ski destinations with an intimate village at the base, an excellent assortment of accommodation, superb terrain, and a wide range of other activities to keep the family occupied. If you haven't been to Panorama Mountain Village in recent years, be prepared to be floored by the mountain improvements, expanded terrain, and expansive condo and lodging developments.
