Ski Resort Overview
Fortress Mountain is located in Kananaskis Country an hour and fifteen minutes west of Calgary. Fortress is an affordable place to take the family out on the slopes. The casual and relaxed resort offers wide-open cruising, serious bumps, large gladed areas, and natural half-pipes popular with snowboarders.
The base area complex at Fortress Mountain is situated at an altitude of 2040 m (6,692 ft), the highest in the Alberta Canadian Rockies. This lofty elevation ensures Fortress an impressive annual snowfall 630 cm (21 ft) and a ski season that stretches from early November until late April. With such great snow conditions, Fortress Mountain is often the first Alberta Mountain ski area to open for the winter and is the pre-season training site for the Canadian National Freestyle ski team.
With just over 689 skiable acres on some of the sweetest snow conditions in the Rockies Fortress Mountain runs off two mountain sides and up another mountain on the backside. The mountain is serviced by five newly renovated lifts (1 Triple Chair, two Double Chairs, and 2 T-bars) and has a terrain breakdown of 20% beginner, 55% Intermediate and 25% advanced.

The Fortress Mountain Lodge offers a variety of on-hill, ski-in/ski-out accommodation packages. On-hill accommodation offers you a choice of an affordable hotel as well as fully furnished chalets with extraordinary views of the mountain and Kananaskis valley. Fortress Lodge also has available a sauna, arcade games and table tennis for your entertainment.
The beautiful Kananaskis Village offers state of the art deluxe accommodations a short 25 minute drive away.
